Everything's Coming Together!

Omigoodness, I have such good news! So in the last two weeks, everythings happened so fast, I still can't believe it! AFS finally contacted me with my AFS placement and family information, and I will be living with the amazingggg Guidotti family in Santos, Sao Paulo! :D (Below are the pictures) And while its not confirmed yet, I'm pretty sure I'll be going to school at Jean Piaget High School. Once again, I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who's out there supporting me, I really appreciate it. I'll post more as soon as I find out anything else, but in the meantime, please spread the word to anyone else who might be interested in sponsoring my experience! Thanks so much (:

The Adventure Begins

Ola!,
My name is Nikita Martin, and I will be leaving Cleveland to study abroad in Brazil during the spring of 2012 with AFS Intercultural programs! I'm so thankful to have this opportunity, and I'm very excited to learn Portuguese, to discover Brazilian culture, and to live with a host family for 6 months! I believe this semester will open my eyes to new possibilities and teach me to become more sensitive to global issues, as well as to be more culturally aware. I will also be able to share my experience with my community when I return, and hopefully inspire other students to become more tolerant and explore different cultures as I will have done.
In order to finance the cost of this trip, my family and I are reaching out to request donations. I have been working hard trying to save money from babysitting jobs, as well as launching a major letter writing campaign, but in these tough times every little bit helps. Please consider making a secure donation through this blog, where you can keep up with my progress abroad once I actually get to Brazil. Only $20 from 400 people would get me there, but no amount is too small. Thank you so much for reading this, and please spread the word to anyone else who might be interested in sponsoring my AFS experience.
Sincerely,
~Nikita
